And then there is Aloja: our most historic drink
Alongside our mead, we also produce Aloja, a traditional Spanish fermented drink that was especially popular during the Golden Age. Made with water, honey and spices, it was once enjoyed at celebrations and gatherings of all kinds. Try our Aloja and taste a piece of Spanish history.
Crafted by hand
We produce every bottle by hand at our facilities in Valladolid.
Naturally gluten-free
Mead is made from honey and water, not grains, so it is naturally gluten-free.
Bottle-fermented
Its second fermentation in the bottle gives it a gentle, natural sparkle.

Beekinga has not only won people over with its flavour, but also earned recognition in some of the most respected mead competitions in Spain and abroad. Its quality, character and originality have made it one of the standout commercial meads on the market.

It’s not beer. It’s mead.
It may look a little like a craft beer, but mead is a different drink altogether. Mead is made by fermenting honey and water, with the alcohol coming from the natural sugars in the honey. Ours is around 5% ABV, so it is easy to drink and approachable, while offering something genuinely different.
What is mead?
Mead is an alcoholic drink made by fermenting honey and water. In English, it is simply called mead. At Beekinga, we also use fruit and aromatic herbs to create distinctive flavour profiles and give each variety its own personality.
Is mead the same as beer?
No. Although some people compare the two, mead is not beer. Beer is made from grains and hops, while mead is made from honey and water. That is also why mead is naturally gluten-free.
How strong is mead?
Mead can vary a lot in alcohol content depending on the style. Some are closer to beer, others more like wine. Beekinga Mead is around 5% ABV, making it light, refreshing and easy to enjoy.
Is mead gluten-free?
Yes. Because it is made without grains, mead is naturally gluten-free.
